Carbon epoxy body developed for Lamborghini

Development of a carbon-epoxy body for the Lamborghini Murcielago and the process for bonding it to the tubular steel frame were discussed in a paper presented at the 2003 SAE World Congress by Attilio Massini of Lamborghini and Paolo Feraboli of the University of California. Titled "Development of a Carbon-Epoxy Body for a High-Performance Vehicle," (SAE 2003-01-1195), the paper describes the laminate layup and material selection, design for environmental aging, and the adoption of hybrid adhesive bonding.
