Germany funds {EUR}100m per annum to test sustainable energy tech

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has selected 20 energy research consortia, after a nationwide competition, to be eligible for a total of {EUR}100 million (US$111 million) per annum in funding, as part of the country's transition to renewable and sustainable energies [Energiewende]. One focus is hydrogen technology, and nine of the selected consortia will establish 'practical laboratories' [Reallabore] for hydrogen and 'green' energy research.
