At Gerdau in Monroe, MI, a switch to 240-mm blooms is in line with automotive trends. The Gerdau steelmaking operation in Monroe, MI, will convert from casting 6- and 7-in. square billets, and 254- and 325-mm diameter round billets, to producing a 240-mm square blooms.
