Hanging on to lambs proves profitable

A Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA)-funded Producer Demonstration Site (PDS) ground-truthed the originalmodelling done by the Monaro grower group. Traditionally, most farmers in the Monaro region in southern New South Wales have sold lambs into store markets. Doug Alcock, Graz Prophet Consulting, conducted modelling work for MFS in 2016 to determine the impact on whole farm profits of a range of strategies to finish lambs on Monaro farms rather than selling them as lighter weight stores.
