Unfortunately there are plenty of tragic tales of grain bin engulfment and suffocation on farms, usually because over 60 per cent of rescuers become victims themselves rushing to help o person trapped under tonnes of grain or stuck in a confined and low oxygen environment. Kristy Moroney asks the experts about working in confined spaces on the farm.Confined spaces are one of the most dangerous places on farms due to their unique health and safety risks. The dangers are usually hidden as people don't see the threats until it's too late.A confined space can be more hazardous than regular workspaces for many reasons. Difficulty entering or exiting the space can mean rescuers can take valuable time away from assisting the victim.
