The global consumer trend for Mexican beers and spirits shows no sign of slowing.The rise of premiumisation,’hand crafted’beverages,and even the consumption of mass alcoholic beverages has continued apace around the world-and Mexican glass makers have responded to the trend.For the majority of glassmakers the past two years have seen an upward curve characterised by investment,innovation and new capacity.Mexican glassmakers have transformed themselves in the past 15 years from domestic suppliers of beverages to international providers.The country is a sizeable exporter of beer,tequila and other spirits to a number of markets,which has propelled demand.In this issue alone we profile two glassmakers who have announced capacity expansions(IVC and Vidrio Formas)as a result of increased demand for their products.Rumours also abound of further furnace expansions at the end of this year at several other companies.
