Iran cuts import duties on steel products after year-long talks

After more than a year of negotiations withIran’s downstream industries, the governmenthas approved a cut in import duties on severalsteel products to enable some of the country’srequirements to be sourced from abroad.The duty for semi-finished steel hasbeen reduced to 5% from 15% and for mostof the hot rolled strips reduced to 15% from20%. For hot rolled coil of less than 3 mmthickness, the most sought-after product,the duty was halved to 10% from 20%.
