The UK's energy sector is rapidly changing. Technologies across power, heat and transport are evolving to address carbon emissions reduction and the conservation of fossil fueLs. Safe, clean and sustainable energy solutions must be found if targets are to be met. The Committee on Climate Change (CCC)1 states: "Meeting future carbon budgets and the UK's 2050 target to reduce emissions by at least 80 per cent of 1990 levels will require reducing domestic emissions by at Least three per cent per year. This will require existing progress to be supplemented by more challenging measures."
