Sustainability requires new levels of cooperation

To secure a sustainable future, the tire industry needs to develop new levels of engagement and collaboration between players and stakeholders both within and outside of the sector.This was the recurring message from speakers at the Future Tire Conference 2019, which addressed a broad range of related issues, including regulation, retreading & recycling, materials sourcing, resource-efficiency and environmental impacts.Cooperation is needed across the value-chain, both upstream and downstream, said keynote speaker Fazilet Cinaralp, secretary general of the European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers’Association(ETRMA).”We will have to put together a system to work together, to design together, to really meet the serious challenges together,”Cinaralp stated at the conference held 11-12 June in Cologne, Germany.
