摘要

As the global economic crisis takes a sizeable bite out of consumer's willingness to spend, growth in the organic food sector is expected to slow, although operators in the sector feel there is still strong potential for continued growth. A survey published recently by Mintel suggests UK consumers are less likely to seek out organic products as a result of the financial downturn, while the recent difficulties experienced by leading organic food retailer Whole Foods in the country would suggest shoppers are trading down as the recession takes hold. According to the survey, nearly half of all organic shoppers in the UK said they would consider reducing or indeed giving up buying organic food during the coming year.
