Under the theme”Drilling Smarter”Celle Drilling 2018 was held in Celle,Germany on 11-12 September 2018.This annual event has now been organized for the eigth time by GeoEnergy Celle e.V.,a local association of nationwide suppliers for the oil,gas and geo-thermal industries.The number of participants increased to around 285,with about 30% being international,mainly coming from the UK,Russia,and the United States.During the opening session,Thor Noevig,chair of GeoEnergy Celle e.V.,and Anne Bartetzko(Baker Hughes,a GE company)chair of the program committee,welcomed the participants.The program then continued with three keynote presentations by relevant industry professionals.Robello Samuel(Halliburton)talked about the future in drilling technology in his presentation”Journey Ahead to Cyber Drilling System Th-reading Driller,Drilling Engineers into One”.In his talk”Is Drilling Automation Making a Difference”,Fred Florence(Rig Operations,LCC)focussed on developments in automation in the last years.Michael Zettlitzer(DEA Deutsche Erdol AG and German Association for Oil,Gas and Geoenergy)presented an initiative on improving public perception of the industry in a talk entitled”Increasing Environmental Transparency in the Oil and Gas Industry A new Initiative in Germany as an Example”.
