摘要

Energy-related carbon dioxide(C02)emissions rose by 1.7% last year, according to the International Energy Agency(IEA)'s Global Energy & C02 Status Report. The agency also found that demand for all fuels increased in 2018,with fossil fuels meeting nearly 70% of the growth for the second year in a row.Energy demand grew by 2.3% last year-the fastest rate in the past 10 years-thanks to a strong global economy and greater need for heating and cooling in some regions.According to the IEA,unpredictable cold snaps drove demand for heating and, more significantly, higher summer temperatures pushed up demand for cooling.Natural gas posted the biggest gains, accounting for 45% of the rise in energy consumption, with demand growth particularly high in the US and China.
