China moves towards greener district heating via natural gas

District heating is an efficient way to provide heat which can reduce carbon emissions compared to individual property-based heating.So,it’s perhaps heartening to learn that the Chinese central government and its municipalities are both expanding district heating initiatives and encouraging the use of cleaner sources to power them.With winter approaching,Beijing’s residents get their district heating switched on on 15 November-to be switched off again on 13 March.Kevin Gou,owner of a 200 m~2 apartment in the Chaoyang district has already paid his Chinese Yuan Renminbi ￥4,000(￡450)fee for his heating to the city government,the same he paid last year.’The heat price hasn’t changed much in recent years,it’s a social service from government,like the waste collection,’ he said.
