Japan's coke imports fall on year in July

Japan imported 360,800t of petroleum coke in July, down by 24pc from a year earlier. The fall was a result of lower opera-tions at steel producers, which use coke as a feedstock or as an in-house generation fuel. But the country's imports rose by 28pc on the month. Japan's crude steel production in July increased by 8pc from June, according to the Japan iron and steel federation.
