Turkish lira falls to record low on US review

The Turkish lira fell to a record low against the US dollar on 6 August after President Donald Trump’s administration an- nounced that it will review Turkey’s duty-free access to the US market. The lira fell to a record low of TL5.33 to the dollar that day and is now trading at TL5.29. The lower value compared with the dollar reduces purchasing power for Turkish buyers for imported products priced in dollars, such as petroleum coke imports.
