Petrobras settles corruption cases for $853mn

Brazil’s state-controlled Petrobras finalized separate settlement agreements totalling around $853mn with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the US Department of Justice (DOJ), closing another chapter in a sweeping corruption probe. Petrobras will pay the DOJ and SEC $85.3mn each. The remainder, $682.6mn, will be paid to Brazilian federal prosecutors for local social and education programs.
