China’s coal imports rise on utility restocking

China imported 28.68mn t of coal in August, the second- highest level since January 2014, as utilities kept restocking to meet peak summer demand. Coal imports, including anthracite, coking coal and thermal coal, rose by 13pc from a year earlier but were down by 1pc from July, customs data show.
