Japan petroleum coke imports were up in March

Japan’s imports of petroleum coke in March rose against a year earlier following sharp falls the previous month. The increase came despite reduced operations by the country’s cement and steel producers that use petroleum coke as fuel for their in-house power generation. Imports in March totalled 467,600t in March, up by 55pc from a year earlier, according to data released by Japan’s fnance ministry. March imports more than doubled compared with 211,800t in February.
