Rusal launches pilot pots at Sayanogorsk smelter

Russian aluminium producer Rusal has launched a pilot opera- tion of eight new energy efcient pots at its Sayanogorsk aluminium smelter in Siberia. The new RA-550 pot consumes 10-15pc less electricity than previous generations pots. The RA-550 pot has the capacity to produce 4.21mn t/d of aluminium, which is almost twice the amount of the RA-300 technology used at Rusal’s Khakas and Boguchansky smelters.
