China sets deadline to add aluminium capacity

China’s ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT) has instructed aluminium companies that wish to replace ca- pacity shut down in 2011-17 to do so by the end of this year. The announcement applies to companies involved in the production of molten aluminium and aluminium ingot where capacity is to be replaced internally or through mergers and/or acquisitions, the MIIT said.
