摘要

Plans for a 1.2mn b/d refinery and petrochemical complex on India’s west coast have led to protests from farmers and the local population, delaying land acquisition. State officials involved in surveying land for the $40bn Ratnagiri Refinery & Petrochemicals (RRPL) project have met with protests from locals, who are either unwilling to give up land or looking for more compensation. The complex will require around 15,000 acres (60km~2) of land in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, one of India’s most industrialised states.
