Indian state-controlled refiners are planning to take at least one cargo of US crude each month until March next year, add- ing to purchases of around 8mn bl since July. The frst US crude cargo bought by a state-run refiner ar- rived in India on 2 October, when the 2mn bl very large crude carrier (VLCC) the MT New Prosperity delivered 1.6mn bl to the port of Paradip on India’s east coast for the country’s big- gest refiner IOC. The company will process the crude, together with 400,000 bl of Western Canadian Select (WCS) delivered on the same vessel, at its 300,000 b/d Paradip, 150,000 b/d Haldia, 120,000 b/d Barauni and 48,000 b/d Bongaigaon refin- eries in eastern India.
