China’s Shanxi province will shut 836MW of coal-fred power plant capacity this year as part of its plans to improve eff- ciency in the coal industry and reduce air pollution. The coal-producing province said it will shut the plants as part of its plan to “optimise its energy mix” and “lower pollut- ing emissions”, a notice from the provincial coal bureau said.
