Rusal’s earnings took Covid hit in 1H

Russian aluminium producer Rusal posted a sharp fall in earn- ings for the frst six months of this year as the Covid-19 pan- demic played havoc with aluminium demand across the world, although the company was able to maintain production levels. Rusal’s adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) fell by 58.5pc on the year to $219mn in the frst six months of this year, on revenues that dipped by 15.2pc to $4.02bn. The company posted a net loss of $124mn over the January-June period, from a net proft of $625mn a year earlier.
