US Senate Democrat foats carbon tax

One of the US Senate’s top Democrats is proposing using a carbon tax to fund investments in clean energy and cut US greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90pc by mid-century. Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) on 6 August introduced a bill to enact a carbon fee that would start at $25/metric tonne and initially apply to GHG emissions from the use of fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas.
