MINING AREA C SOUTH FLANK

BHP is in the process of designing and permitting the 80Mtpa Mining Area C (MAC) South Flank project which is around7km south of the MAC North Flank Operations. MAC South Flank will make use of North Flank processing and railinfrastructure.South Flank is being developed in time to replace production from the 80Mtpa Yandi Mine which is expected to bedepleted by 2026. In replacing the lower grade Yandi fines production South Flank is expected to increase BHP’s irongrade from 61% to 62% and lift the company’s lump proportion from 25% to 35%.Mining Area C is BHP’s largest single source of low-phosphorous Marra Mamba and supplies all of the MAC Fines andLump product streams.
