摘要

A computer-aided design (CAD) flow for large-scale quantum circuits is presented in this chapter. The proposed flow along with other stand-alone tools are implemented in a tool suite called Next-generation Quantum Computing Systems (NQCS) toolbox. This toolbox receives as input a physical machine description of a quantum computing fabric, a quantum error correction (QEC) code, a quantum control (QC) protocol, as well as a quantum algorithm, and produces as output physical resource requirements and a machine control language specification of the quantum algorithm, protected by the given QEC code and the QC protocol. The NQCS toolbox comprises of several stand-alone tools to perform compilation, logic synthesis, and physical optimization steps. The automated CAD flow is made possible by creating a set of well-defined interfaces between different levels of design abstraction and developing tools that operate efficiently and reliably within any abstraction levels. This modular design approach simplifies the task of developing and ensuring the correctness of the overall design flow. By taking advantage of hierarchical nature of the quantum circuit specifications, NQCS is able to handle large-scale quantum benchmarks while producing high-quality results.
