Intra Agroecological Contribution of Food Demand System to Food Security in Africa

The study aims to improve food security using a food demand system approach to address intra agroecological acumens. The methodology adopted is the Almost Ideal Demand System to analyze the food demand system and its implications on food security borrows the Huang(1996) method. Data employed are from Food and Agricultural Organization and African Development Indicators databases and run from 1991 to 2011. intra agroecological analyses of both Arid and Subhumid zones show that within zone food demandsystem presents great differences in terms of food budget share, price and income elasticities. The consequences of these gaps are significant on the agroecology nutritional outcome.
