China’s bauxite exports fall in June vs last year on slow demand

China’s exports of refractory-grade bauxite in June recorded their first negative year-on-year growth since February while shipments of fused alumina fell again due to sluggish demand. China shipped 40,494 tonnes of refractory grade bauxite (HS Code: 25083000) in June, down by 29.5% from the corresponding period of last year and marking the first year-on-year negative growth since China was in the grips of the Covid- 19 virus in February. The main export destinations for the material in June were Japan (9,568 tonnes), India (4,861 tonnes), the Netherlands (4,098 tonnes), Turkey (3,495 tonnes) and Taiwan (2,964 tonnes).
