The market price of wet bulk foundry sand chromite fell slightly on the low end of the range in the week to Tuesday August 4 on perceived weakness while consumer markets battle with the summer slowdown on top of widespread Covid-19 economic struggles. Fastmarkets assessed the price of chromite, foundry, 46% Cr2O3 min, wet bulk, fob South Africa at $195-220 per tonne on Tuesday, down from $200-220 per tonne the week before. Material was traded at around the midpoint of the previous range, but other sellers indicated they lost business with offers at the low end, prompting the slight decline in the new range. The top end of the wet bulk price held for the time being with several offers seen for material, including from sellers who were not active in the market in previous weeks.
