Specialty Fertilisers - Spearheading the Agricultural Revolution

Rising income levels of the people and the exponential growth of the food demand is putting a tremendous pressure on the agriculture sector to produce more. Owing to lots of constraints viz., unbalanced nutrient application, reduction in arable lands, and reducing fertiliser response ratio, there is a great need for special solutions which can boost the staggering agricultural production. One among the most viable solutions is the usage of specialty fertilisers (water soluble fertilisers, customized fertilisers and fortified fertilisers). Specialty fertilisers require a different marketing approach for faster farmer acceptance, as it has more to do with concept-selling. The changing market scenario viz., increasing commercial crop acreages, stress on environmental concerns, government initiatives, etc., are favourable for growing of the market share of specialty fertilisers. With the right impetus, specialty fertilisers can play a pivotal role in bringing in another agri-revolution.
