Waste is formed into a sludge or slurry together with biological additives, to form a wet mixt. On extrusion, mixt. is heated and converted into a material which is generally homogenous at least, and at least partially dry. Also claimed is an extruder assembly, connected to a material feed and mixer to process the components into a finished product. USE/ADVANTAGE - Method is for processing loose material of liquid biological residue, sludge and/or agricultural waste and/or waste from animal husbandry, into a fertiliser. Technique gives a fertiliser material free of toxic matter, which can be used simply by scattering to fertilise soil.
