Mature technological solutions based on piezoelectric sensors give Kistler the capability to monitor industrial robots efficiently, and to continue optimising assembly and handling processes. The robots of the future will be more precise, flexible, efficient and reliable thanks to miniaturised and integrated systems - paving the way towards autonomy and Industry 4.0 Robotics is constantly gaining importance as a feature of today's industrial world: the use of robots can boost productivity, make manufacturing processes more flexible, and enhance the quality of products. It is no coincidence that the number of industrial robots in operation throughout the world is growing every year - in 2016, the total increased by 16 per cent to almost 300 000 units. The pace of development in the Asian market is particularly dynamic: the main driving force here is China, which yet again reported a high double-digit growth rate in 2017. Together with Japan, South Korea, Germany and the US, China now accounts for 74 per cent of all robot systems installed throughout the world. Especially in sectors where components and systems of exceptionally high quality are required, such as the automotive industry, medical technology and electronics production, industrial robots are already well established, and are set to gain more ground. In terms of Industry 4.0, they play a key part in achieving the goal of making production as autonomous and individualised as possible.
