The expected values of detour and hyper-detour indices in random polyphenylene chains

In contrast to the Wiener index, the detour index considers the length of the longest path between each pair of vertices. We give the explicit expressions for the expected values of the detour index and the hyper-detour index of the random polyphenylene chain.
