DiDi Chuxing deploys robotaxi fleet in Shanghai

On-demand transportation company DiDi Chuxing has launched a pilot robotaxi service in downtown Shanghai, offering free passenger rides within a designated area covering the business districts, Automobile Exhibition Center, and numerous hotels and transport hubs. The project is supported by widespread infrastructure in vehicle-to-everything hardware at major junctions, and the company has established a safety control center that will enable real-time monitoring of vehicles and road conditions. The latter will offer remote assistance for larger-scale operations planned in the future, including gathering scenario data from road-based trials for use in simulations.
