More than 130 years ago Tuena was a bustling, prosperous town with numerous stores, business houses and hotels catering for a population of several thousand goldseekers. Today, with a population of less than 60 according to the 2016 census, Tuena consists of Parsons General Store (which has been in the hands of the same family since 1886) and an hotel that finally closed its doors in 2012 due to a lack of customers -The Goldfields Inn. But don't worry, the general store has a licensed area so thirsty prospectors can still grab a cold one.
