It was 1946 and the war was over. My father, Capt. Walter Boudreau, decided to buy a small ship, to go into the cargo and passenger business with his partner. There were a lot of older vessels around that had been commandeered into service during thewar, and many were now available for sale, for a pittance. Dad and his business partner found an old coastal patrol vessel called the Inverleigh. They bought her and put her into service between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and the eastern seaboard of the United States, as a general-purpose vessel, carrying just about anything.
