Lloyd's Register approves LNG-fuelled VLOC design

South Korean engineering company Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received approval in principal for its design of a 250,000dwt LNG-fuelled very large ore carrier (VLOC) from maritime classification group Lloyd's Register. The design is a joint-development project undertaken last year by shipowners Anangel Maritime Services, Australian independent Woodside Energy, Lloyd's Register, and HHI with a goal of promoting the use of LNG as a 2020-compliant marine fuel.
