Prices remain unchanged in quiet week

Western coal prices remain unchanged after limited trading activity in direct and over-the-counter (OTC) markets this week. Second-quarter Powder River Basin 8,800 Btu/lb and 8,400 Btu/lb prices held at $12.45/short ton and $9.45/st, respectively. The direct market maintained a discount to OTC prices, where the second quarter held at $12.55/st until it expired as the prompt quarter on 26 March. The third quarter was also $12.55/st.
