Germany’s third biomass tender was again significantly undersubscribed, receiving the lowest number of bids yet.And in the latest joint auction for new onshore wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, the latter again was awarded all of the capacity on offer.German energy regulator Bnetza offered 133MW in the latest biomass tender for which the submission deadline was 1 April. The biomass auctions, which were launched in 2017,are open for installations with a minimum capacity of 150kW.In contrast to other renewable auctions in Germany which are open to new installations only, existing biomass units can enter the tender if they have less than eight years left on their 20-year subsidy period under the renewable energy act (EEG) to receive an additional 10 years of support.
