President-elect Joe Biden wants to have at least a third of the US population inoculated against Covid-19 within the frst 100 days of his taking ofce on 20 January. Implementing the ambitious goal of vaccinating 100mn people by late April requires funding from Congress for procur- ing the vaccines — projected to cost about $50 per person — and for distributing and administering them. The incoming administration's focus on vaccines parallels eforts by President Donald Trump’s outgoing administration. But Biden says he also plans to step up federal eforts to enforce social distancing and other measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus until a sufciently large part of the population is inoculated. Another priority for the new administration is to secure fund- ing from Congress to implement health measures to enable in- person attendance at schools across the US — a measure that would provide a productivity boost for the economy.
