IeA, Opec warn of revenue hit for countries

The recent coronavirus-linked collapse in global crude demandand prices could see “vulnerable developing countries” lose between 50pc and 85pc of their oil and gas revenue in 2020, the IEA and Opec said jointly. Their joint statement followed a phone exchange between IEA executive director Fatih Birol and Opec Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo. The fgures are the result of recent IEA analysis and project the income of developing countries could reach “the lowest level in more than two decades” in this scenario.
