The Opec+ alliance has made signifcant progress towards rebalancing the global crude market following the collapse in demand caused by Covid-19, but should remain wary and needs to keep adhering closely to the output cuts agreed in April. That was the verdict of this week’s meeting of the group’s Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), chaired by Saudi Arabia and Russia, which with that call for discipline in mind is now enforcing 2.3mn b/d of extra cumulative cuts that non-compliers must make in August-September to compensate for exceeding their quotas in May-July.
