Impact of training on IPM knowledge improvement of paddy farmers

The study to assess the knowledge level of farmers who had acquired trainings from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Pilibhit on integrated pest management techniques, was conducted. The data were collected from one hundred and forty respondents and evaluated beforeand after the training through pre structured schedule. Pre-evaluation revealed that the respondents had poor knowledge regarding environment friendly tools of pest management, safe chemicals, proper time and dosages of safe chemical pesticides. After the training, a majority of the respondents (97.3%) gained knowledge about the kind of integrated pest management techniques used for the management of stem borer in paddy. Around 80% of the respondents learnt the benefits of integrated pest management technologies and cost effectiveness while preparing crop protection schedule of paddy crop at their own level.
