Tc-99m-ECD SPECT Analyzed by Easy Z-Score Imaging System Enhancing the Early Diagnosis of Logopenic Progressive Aphasia

A 76-year-old male with cognitive impairment was initially impressed as an early Alzheimer's disease (AD). Tc-99m-ECD brain single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) was arranged for further evaluation and conventional display showed focal hypoperfusion in left temporal and parietal lobes. Statistical analysis with easy Z-score imaging system (eZIS) showed a typical picture of logopenic progressive aphasia (LPA). During the following 12-month period, rapid deterioration of language function was noted, especially the naming and sentence repetition. Further language function examination confirmed the final diagnosis of LPA.
