The Characteristics of Narcolepsy on Tc-99m ECD Brain Perfusion SPECT: Analysis by Easy Z-Score Imaging System

Narcolepsy is a disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy (a sudden loss of muscle tone), sleep paralysis or sleep-related hallucination. For patients with narcolepsy, the patterns of hypoperfusion on brain SPECT have been controversial in previous studies. In this report, we demonstrated the imaging findings of three narcolepsy cases on Tc-99m ECD brain perfusion SPECT analyzed by easy Z-score imaging system (eZIS). The results of eZIS analysis for SPECT consistently showed hypoperfusion in frontal and parietal lobes and cingulate gyrus but preserved perfusion in temporal lobe, basal ganglia, thalamus and cerebellum in all three patients.
