The secret is out about Argentine wines. There's rubies of Pinot Noir in Patagonia, diamonds of Torrontes in Salta, and Malbec gold in them thar hills of Mendoza. It's not news that Argentine wines from these grape varieties, and more, are respected internationally. I recently toured several state-of-the-art Argentine wineries complete with dazzling contemporary architecture, ranks of stainless steel tanks and rows of costly French oak. The wines had achieved international standards. And in their own ways some winemakers are going further to set an even higher bar.
