Somalia offshore round hits Kenya blip

Somalia's first licensing round has run into problems with its neighbour Kenya only weeks after it was launched.Earlier this month the government opened a round for 15 offshore blocks covered by new Spectrum data with the seismic firm pointing to promising oil geology.The round is set to close on 7th November 2019,with prequalification applications due on July 11th 2019.However,the long-standing border dispute with neighbour Kenya that is subject to a case at the International Court of Justice(ICJ)immediately surfaced and Somalia was forced to reject accusations that one block is in a disputed maritime area.
