Sonangol is trying to attract Equinor into shallow water acreage as well as the deepwater for which it is already negotiating. Equinor, formerly Statoil, is already in "advanced discussions" along with BP and Eni for the rights to the ultra-deep offshore Blocks 46 and 47 which are outboard of BP's successful Block 31.
