Eni has set the end of the first quarter of next year as the date for a play opening deepwater wildcat off Morocco. Exploration off the country hit a brick wall after a series of poor results and as operators focused limited capex on proven basins. However Eni, which is one of the most successful explorers in Africa in recent years, will drill on the Rabat Deep Offshore permit in late March or early April. It will target the 768m bbl JP prospect which is a 200sq km four way dip closed faulted prospect, in water depths ranging from 3,280ft to 4,595ft (1,000m to 1,400m).
